A challenge was presented by newly empty-nest clients to shoehorn a simple, yet impactful, house on the water in East Norwalk. With great responsibility to maintain a budget, the footprint was intentionally simplistic, yet the form and massing would provide visual movement and the views of the Norwalk River would explode.
The planning was obvious–the entry directed to the small beachy street front, the living spaces placed along the views and lofted above the flood plane. With the dominant views facing west, the intense sunlight and glare coming off of the water were managed by the overhanging exterior balconies. A true example of form following function!
