Our location on the craggy New England mini-peninsula of Pratt Island frames the Long Island Sound’s views of New York City.
The building envelope was so constrained that we left three scraps of an existing ranch house, weaving them into the new structure. The result is a free-flowing plan with an entry façade that recalls the shingle-style, and waterfront glass walls arching through the expansion of the view.
The hint of tradition on the exterior swings to modern eclecticism on the interior. The whole of the project offers a liveliness of variety, richness, and texture that is too often lost by consistency.
